The Birthday Boy

So, Isaac basically thinks that I am obsessed with him every time he reads our blog. I really cannot go one post without mentioning him. This blog will only confirm his suspicions.

BUT-he is the BIRTHDAY BOY.....so here is a post dedicated to him. In keeping up with the blogger tradition, I will name off 30 things that I love about him.

1- I love that I am more worried about him turning 30 and being an old man than he is. He is positive that he gets better (way better) with age. I am finding out as the years go by that he is right.

2- I love his patience. He never loses his cool.

3-I love his hotness.

4-I love that he is a Mr. smarty pants/math nerd. He can work out ridiculous math problems in his head and is so proud of himself when he does.

5-I love that he makes me want to be a better person.

6-I love that he is SO kind to everyone and gets along with everyone. He can go anywhere and make new friends. He always tells me that he fit in with every group there was in High School. He is just that type of guy.

7-I love that he acts like a little kid all the time and it is hilarious.

8-I love that when we first started dating he drove a VW bus that was smurf blue. Well, I didn't love it at the time...but it proves that I really truly love the guy if I was willing to date him despite that bus. He loved it and thought that it proved how laid-back he was. He sold it about 6 months after I met him and he still misses it.

9-I love that he doesn't care what people think. He will not be influenced by other people and marches to his own drum. His mother can attest to this :) He would set trends that she wasn't too fond of. ;)

10-I love that he is so into sports. Well, sometimes it is frustrating because he is obsessed with fantasy baseball--but we play on a co-ed softball team and it is usually the highlight of my week.

11-I love that he always is up for new things. New foods, new activities. He is more than willing to try it out.

12-I love that he is an amazing chef. Everything he cooks or BBQ's is delicious. I may have mentioned this before (like, a thousand times) but we really would have been eating cold cereal and Top Ramon every night if the cooking had been up to me from the beginning.

13-I love how great he is with kids. I know he will be the best dad someday.

14-I love that he speaks Spanish. He will translate for me whenever I wonder what people are saying.

15-I love that he served a mission to Chile (this is also where he learned the Spanish I love). He learned and grew so much and I appreciate that he took the time to serve and be dedicated to the Lord for 2 years.

16-I love his mischievous smile.

17-I love that he is so scripture smart. If I ever have a question--he can answer it.

18-I love and appreciate how financially smart and frugal he is.

19-I love that he loves his job. He is so interested and happy with where he works--that makes me happy that he isn't at some dead end job that he hates. He tries to explain stuff that he is working on--but it goes way (way, way) over my head. Designing and building rockets and satellites seems pretty tedious and boring to me...but he loves it. And we need people like that in this world.

20-I love that this guy is such a great artist. He has the left and right brain going on. He can paint and draw so well that I am jealous--but glad that I have his creativity to go off of.

21-I love that he can fix just about everything around the house. It comes in handy. I think he finds fixing things as a challenge and he is always up for it.

22-I love that he is quick to apologize after any fight---even when it is not his fault. I can be stubborn and he will look past that and want to make it better.

23-I love what a great listener he is. Even when I complain he will listen and give me great advice (uh hum....except when Sports Center is on.....that is when he has the awesome ability to tune me out completely).

24-I love that he is so close with his family. He adores them and misses them a lot. He also gets along great with my family.

25-I love that he makes me breakfast in bed practically EVERY weekend. I am one lucky girl.

26-I love that I continue to get closer and closer to him. We almost have our own language and can finish each others sentences.

27-I LOVE that he doesn't snore! I am a super light sleeper---so I am so glad that I didn't marry someone that is a snorer. (sleep is very important to me)

28-I love that he is forever an optimist. The glass is always half full as far as he is concerned.

29-I love that he would do anything for me and is always looking out for my best interest.

30-I love that he never judges anyone. He will not gossip or talk badly about anyone. This is something that he has helped me be better with over the years.

Whoa. He seems too good to be true, right? He is. That list was way too easy to make and I could keep going. I really don't know how I got so lucky. I don't deserve him.

Love you babe! I hope you had a great B-day and I hope that this year has a lot of fantastic things in store for you!

What do you do when you think you are going to die?

Apparently, I start to cry and freak out and feel like I am going to faint and/or throw up. That is a normal reaction, right? Maybe I was a little dramatic afterwards when I told Isaac he was thisclose to being widowed, like 1000 times. Oh yeah, and when it was totally obvious that I was just fine....I continued to bawl my head off because I was 'emotionally damaged and drained' from the thought of what had happened to me.
What happened? I was ATTACKED by an evil pit bull while out for a quick jog last night. Nope, I didn't even provoke the attack. It just ran up to me, sniffed, scratched my leg a little and stuck it's fangs in me (shudder....it hurt). I stood there like a statue minding my own business and it decided to have a snack courtesy of my leg. My life flashed before my eyes. The owner ran over with a stick just as it started to lunge at me again. She saved my life ( I'm pretty sure).
After a mini meltdown in front of the dog owners--they drove me home. The owners swore that the dog had all the shots it needed so I wouldn't start foaming at the mouth later with rabies. They were super nice and offered to pay for anything that I needed. I wanted to hate them for having a man eating dog---but I just couldn't.
Isaac had been out looking for me....and when he got home he was so cute and concerned. But--that didn't stop the floodgate of tears that was coming his way....
Animal Control came to my house this morning and let me know that he had the dog and it would be tested for rabies and probably put to sleep. It wasn't my intention to be a dog killer when I made Isaac call to report it.....but now I feel like one.....
Keep your fingers crossed I don't end up with some crazy canine disease.

**Update**I just googled 'dog bites'.....it could have been SOOOO much worse.

In the middle of the meltdown, Isaac decided to take a picture. See how sad I was, with mascara all over and puffy eyes (can you believe i posted this picture?? me either.). Don't feel bad for the dog that will likely die.....feel bad for the victim-AKA: me.

The gaping hole in my leg. Serious business.

A little over a week ago I got a call from one of my best friends letting me know that her sister had passed away from complications after she had given birth to her little boy. I was shocked. My heart just hurt for her. I had no idea what she was going through--but I have 2 sisters and I know I would be seriously devastated if anything happened to them. Especially in such a tragic, unexpected way.
I was so glad that I know that families are forever. Being sealed to my husband and family is probably something I take for granted. I have never been so emotional and grateful for that HUGE blessing.
My friend is not really religious at this point in her life, but she let me know that she felt like it was her sister's time to go and do better things. She said that she felt her presence right next to her as she was holding her little boy. I asked her if she had any regrets about what she didn't say...and she told me that she felt like she had a close bond and her sister knew that she loved her and would do anything for her.
Her sister was also an organ donor and her heart saved someones life. I was surprised how strong and insightful she was as I talked to her. I doubt I would be that strong. She is an amazing example. I knew her sister and she really had a huge heart an was such a good person.
I guess things like this really make you want to do better in your own life and not take your relationships for granted.
